Lindsey Coltraine, MFT Candidate
Master of Family Therapy Candidate, Mercer university
Who i work with
I enjoy providing specialized couples counseling services to couples and families. I have completed specialized training in the Gottman Method Couples Therapy through the Gottman Institute (levels 1 and 2). I also have interest in Cognitive Behavioral therapy, as well as helping couples with children with chronic health and disability issues.
Fridays (daytime and evenings)
Lindsey is not taking new clients at this time, as she will be gradating soon (December).
I enjoy working with couples of all ages and stages of life. I know how difficult it can be to talk to a stranger about problems in your life, so I really focus on building a strong relationship with my clients. I am intensively trained in the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy, the single most effective form of couples therapy available today. I also use an Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach to help my clients gain insight into the meaning behind your thoughts and emotions. I don’t think change happens immediately, but I would like to help you on your journey.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
I knew from an early age that I wanted to study psychology, because I was fascinated with learning about people and how the mind works. I obtained my Bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Georgia.
In my pursuit to find a career where I could express my passion for loving on others, I completed a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Georgia Health Sciences University. I worked for a few years in long-term acute care and then inpatient mental health where I gained great experience working with mental disabilities and substance abuse.
My experience as a nurse was invaluable, but I found that I really enjoyed connecting with people in a way that the duties of a nurse don't allow. I made the decision to go back to school, and I am currently completing my Master of Family Therapy.
I moved to the Atlanta area a few years ago and grew up in Macon, GA. I have been married to my wonderful husband since 2012, and we have a son. In my spare time, you will find me spending time with my family and reading. I love trying new foods and traveling. Most of all, I am passionate about helping people.
I receive my primary clinical supervision from several faculty members of Mercer University. Stephanie Cook, LCSW, owner of Counseling ATL, LLC, also provides me with mentoring and supervision on site.
