COUNSELING FOR COUPLES ABROAD - INTERNATIONAL COUPLES
Hello everyone, my name is Jessica Hart and I am a couples counselor at Couples Counseling ATL. Today, I would love to share how virtual couples counseling can benefit international couples/individuals.
Living abroad can be a great experience including learning new languages, meeting new people, trying new foods, and experiencing different cultures. But it can also bring many challenges including but not limited to relationship issues, external stressors, codependency, and different roles/expectations.
I would love to share my personal story. I was born in the States but when I was about 5 years old, my family decided to move to a remote village in a third-world country where we stayed for about 13 years. It was during that time, my parents went through a marital crisis and since there was no access to quality couples counseling, they really struggled on their own. As a kid, I experienced how their crises impacted them and it was also a significant reason why I became a couples counselor in the first place. I wanted to provide virtual couples counseling to international couples so that families will never have to go through what my family and I went through.
If you are an international individual or couple, it will be very beneficial to have an English-speaking couples counselor who has a lot of experience working with multicultural couples of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures. It will be an honor to provide some skills, bring hope, and research-based resources in order to help work on your relationship.
