Accepting New Clients
Marriage & Couples Therapist in Atlanta

My Approach To Couples Therapy

My name is Elizabeth Clements and I am a fully licensed therapist at Couples Counseling ATL. I view couples as a partnership, made up of two strong individuals. However, within that partnership, we often get in our own way, preventing ourselves from being truly vulnerable with our partner. This can easily create miscommunication, stalemates, and mistrust within the partnership. With help, therapy can guide the couple to a healthier way of navigating through these tough issues.

As a therapist, I believe that it’s my job to help bring individual strengths out of my clients to help build a stronger partnership. I adjust to the needs of my clients and help them accomplish their goals by offering my support, guidance, and understanding.

In addition to couples counseling, I also offer individual therapy to adolescents and adults, as well as family therapy. It can be a struggle to balance all the things we have going on in our lives. Finding that balance, in my opinion, is the key to being happy and feeling fulfilled.

About me and my experience

I am a native to Atlanta and have a passion for making our community stronger. I am married and have two young children. I strive to be authentic, genuine, and compassionate with my clients while helping guide them towards their desired goals. Seeking out therapy can seem overwhelming and even sometimes scary; however, it can be the first step in enriching your life in ways you never thought could be possible.

Couples can experience a variety of issues that create barriers to healthy communication. Each couple is made up of two individuals, forcing two worlds together to form a brand new world. These worlds can have conflicting elements, but can be navigated through individually and as a couple.

As a therapist, I am here to help my clients reach their desired goal, and act as an extra support. My priority is to help you explore yourself and your partner, and help the couple as a whole learn to better communicate their needs, truly listen to each other, and to grow together.

I received my Bachelor’s in Psychology at the University of Colorado at Boulder and my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Georgia. I wanted to become a therapist to be a part of helping people better their lives through exploring their past and unlocking their potential for a brighter future. I started my therapeutic career by working in intensive family therapy. I then transitioned into individual therapy working with teens and adults who have experienced trauma in their past, many of those clients struggling with Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Suicidal Ideation/Self-harming behaviors.

Level 3 trained in the Gottman Method, Family Functional Therapy, and I specialize in using Emotional Focused Therapy, Trauma Focused Therapy, and Internal Family Systems Therapy.
