My Approach To Couples Therapy
We all have times in our life when we are struggling in our relationships. Maybe it’s a feeling of frustration, disconnection, or personal struggles with over-working, substance abuse, or depression. Perhaps your own personal history is impacting your current relationship with your partner. Whatever the issue, it’s easy to feel alone in the struggle.
The thought of seeking outside help is scary for many people. What does it say about us that we need help? Is couples counseling only for those who are beyond saving?
In actuality, we know from extensive research that evidence-based therapies such as the Gottman Method are very effective in helping couples to heal from their emotional wounds and move forward in their relationships feeling stronger and more connected.
If you want to heal your relationship, I can teach you how.
For Couples Going Through Recovery
I specialize in helping couples with early recovery from substance abuse and addiction, as well as a wide range of other relationship concerns. I have received intensive training for treating couples and individuals through the Gottman Institute, and have specialized training in addiction. I enjoy working with couples and adults of all ages.
In my personal and professional life, I am a big believer in connection and a sense of belonging being crucial to solving the adversities we face. I am specialized as an addictions counselor with experience in treating couples, families, and individuals struggling with healing after trauma, interpersonal issues, grief, adjustment issues, depression and anxiety, identity struggles such as cultural and sexual orientation issues, anger and impulsivity control, identity and LGBTQIA+ issues, etc. I pride myself in being a trauma-informed, culturally humble counselor.
Couples and Addiction Recovery Counseling
I am grateful for the education I have received over the years as I completed my B.S. in Psychology (with a criminology minor) from Kennesaw State University. I also completed my M.S. in Counseling (specialized in addiction) from the University of North Georgia in 2021. I am also a Certified Masters Addictions Counselor (CMAC) under the Georgia Addictions Counselors Association.
I’ve completed advanced training in motivational interviewing, the Gottman Method Level 1 and Level 2 trainings, Couples and Addiction Recovery through the Gottman Institute, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and more.
My approachable and warm demeanor allows me to establish rapport quickly with new clients. I believe the relationship between counselor and client is the most important part to the therapeutic process. During my free time, I enjoy traveling, being outside, finding new restaurants and live music spots, and spending time with my friends and family.
