HOW TO NAVIGATE THROUGH THE HOLIDAYS?

Hi there, my name is Jessica Hart. And I am a couples counselor here at CCATL.

I want to give a quick tip on How to Navigate Holidays. I don’t know about you but I am super excited about the holidays. Especially Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Halloween which is today! I wanted to give a quick tip because this is one of the biggest things I see couples come into my office for, struggling after the holidays have worn them out and they’ve had fights about anything and everything from in-laws, expectations, to disappointments.

The first tip is to make sure you and your partner have each other’s backs.

I know this is really difficult, there is a lot of stress with the holidays and a lot of people tend to want to make sure everybody is happy. Do they take their partner’s side? Do they take the other person’s? (Whether it is a family member, mother-in-law, or whomever it may be). So one of the most important things that you can do to help reduce resentment or reduce stress is to always have your partner’s back.
