IS IT POSSIBLE FOR MY PARTNER TO HAVE MILD VS SEVERE ADHD?
If your partner has ADD or ADHD, you may be wondering if there are varying degrees of severity. And the truth is yes, it really can vary in intensity!
With ADD and ADHD, there is a whole spectrum. It presents itself slightly differently in every person. There is also a correlation between how severe these symptoms are and your partner’s ability to do well in life. This condition can impact functioning at home, at work, at school, or even things like driving.
If your partner has a milder version, they might just be slightly distractible and impulsive. Others might be easily distracted, extremely impulsive and reactive emotionally, and unable to organize most of their life or manage their time. Their short-term memory might be impacted as well. They may have trouble memorizing or remembering what you have asked them to do.
Last but not least, in addition to there being different levels of severity, there are also different types of ADD and ADHD. There is the inattentive or distractible type, the hyperactive type, and a combination type between the two.
Remember, your partner may have a type of ADHD that is very different from what you may be used to.
